2. Why We Need Location Permission
Location access is the core functionality of Watch360. Here's a detailed explanation of each permission we request:
Foreground Location Permission (When In Use)
Why we need it: This permission allows Watch360 to access your device's GPS when you have the app open. We use this to:
- Display your current position on the map
- Show you where your connected friends are located
- Calculate distances and provide accurate map navigation
- Update your location in real-time as you move
When it's used: Only when you have Watch360 open and actively using it.
Background Location Permission (Always)
Why we need it: This permission allows Watch360 to access your location even when the app is closed or running in the background. We use this to:
- Keep your friends updated on your location without having to keep the app open
- Record your location history and travel routes
- Enable continuous location sharing for safety and coordination with friends and family
- Allow your connected friends to see your real-time position at any time
When it's used: Continuously while location sharing is enabled, even when the app is not actively open.
Important Note on Background Location
Background location access may affect your device's battery life. Watch360 is optimized to minimize battery consumption while maintaining accurate location updates. You can disable background location at any time in your device settings or within the app.
